Craniosacral Fascial Therapy
Groundbreaking, effective therapy that’s gentle enough for a baby.
What if you could experience dramatic improvements in your well-being – without dramatic intervention? Sometimes the most profound results can come from the most precise and subtle movements. That’s exactly what happens with Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) – a treatment so gentle yet effective that it is a preferred method for treating infants and children.
Your brain and spinal cord send cerebrospinal fluid into what’s called the fascial web – the tissue that connects every cell and organ of your body. Physical and emotional trauma can cause this freely moving system to tighten up, exerting tremendous pressure on the associated nerves, muscles, organs, blood vessels, lymph vessels, and bones. That pressure can greatly impact your body’s ability to function, and present in a variety of adverse health conditions.
Dr. Barry Gillespie discovered the craniosacral fascial system. At the Well of Life Spa, therapists use the Gillespie Approach to Craniosacral Fascial Therapy to relieve the pressure that can build up there as a result of trauma. The Gillespie Approach originated from the cranial osteopathic principles of Dr. William Sutherland, the authentic myofascial release work of John Barnes, P.T., and Dr. Barry Gillespie’s background as a periodontist.
How it works
The power of the Gillespie Approach comes from its use of gentle hands-on procedures that facilitate healing without drugs, vitamins, supplements, technology, or surgery. The movements are so slight and gentle that, while CFT is appropriate and effective for adults, it is especially ideal for treating infants and children. A freely moving brain, spinal cord, and fascial web are must-haves for your well-being at every stage of life, from newborn to adulthood!
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy
benefits…
The Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy is ideal for children since it’s non-invasive, gentle, active, and fun. Removing fascial strain from childbirth, vaccinations, and other early traumas has been demonstrated to help with issues of tongue ties, colic, digestive discomfort, hyperactivity, attention deficit, autism, allergies, asthma, earaches, learning disorders, bedwetting, and other childhood ailments.
CFT can also help adults unwind tight fascia and release years of strain. Clients often find lasting relief from migraines, sinus conditions, neck and back pain, sleep issues, and other conditions.

Your therapist will use light touch to assess and release restrictions within your body’s fascial system, focusing on the bones of the skull and spine to promote overall health and well-being. The technique addresses imbalances in the craniosacral system by identifying and releasing deep-seated tension patterns through a highly sensitive palpation technique. This specialized form of Craniosacral Fascial Therapy, developed by Dr. Barry Gillespie, emphasizes a holistic approach to the body and its fascial connections.

The Gillespie Approach
Dr. Barry Gillespie believes that addressing fetal and birth trauma early in life can enhance brain function, prevent disease, and reduce lifelong suffering. In the 1980s, while treating children with TMJ and headaches, he discovered that craniosacral fascial restrictions in the respiratory system were the root cause of pediatric asthma. His research expanded over 20 years, revealing that many childhood conditions – like earaches, ADHD, colic, reflux, scoliosis, and strabismus – were linked to dysfunction in the craniosacral fascial system.
Due to the global potential of his findings, Dr. Gillespie left his periodontal practice in 1997 after 22 years to fully dedicate himself to this work. He published Healing Your Child in 1999 to educate parents on these natural care concepts, and in 2000, he released “Brain Therapy for Children and Adults” as a teaching manual for practitioners.
“Content babies and happy families create a more peaceful planet.”
– Dr. Barry Gillespie
